CUE Autopilot

CUE Autopilot is the foundation for AI in CUE. It is a newsroom assistant that applies generative AI to the process of content creation and publishing to enhance and automate.

Business value of CUE Autopilot

Many of the new AI tools launched promise to boost efficiency and quality in the newsroom. However, many of these rely on users copy/pasting from a web service into the story creation interface. For AI to be secure and transparent, a fully integrated technology foundation is needed. With CUE Autopilot, Stibo DX is offering a solid, managed, built-in way to integrate and deploy AI services across the CUE media enterprise platform.

Traceability is key

CUE Autopilot ensures that the use of generative AI in all phases of content workflow remains traceable and that no AI-generated content goes public without human approval. When new AI-powered tools emerge, integrating these in the CUE workflow is seamless and you stay in control of your journalisticintegrity and regulatory compliance.

Integrated workflow

Copy/pasting from external AI services breaks traceability, but with CUE Autopilot, you remain in control as AI becomes part of the standard workflow.

Safe

Data privacy and security around source material is ensured. User access rights are applied to all AI capabilities in the newsroom.

Scalable

As the one central hub for AI services in CUE, CUE Autopilot lets you maintain and deploy new tools at scale.

Cost transparency

CUE Autopilot aggregates your fees from the AI-services in use and keeps track of total cost.

Automation of tasks

Automation of repetitive, time-consuming tasks in content workflows takes many forms: Suggestions for SEO headlines and metadata, provision of story summaries, converting speech to text, creating variants of stories for different audiences or channels and so on. Prompts are triggered directly in the CUE UI and AI-generated content is always flagged for human approval.

Maintained and modular

The CUE Autopilot product applies various automation services for different use cases and capability areas in CUE. They are offered as separate modules that you can decide to enable in your CUE platform. Maintainance of the selected services is handled proactively by Stibo DX centrally as security and integrity measures often cover multiple integrations. This way your IT staff can configure user rules, prompt configuration and compliance metrics in one place.

Abstraction layer

Different AI models change over time and new LLMs emerge, and evolve. CUE Autopilot is a proxy layer in CUE where sourcing, composing, optimizing and distribution of AI services are handled. Tools for prompt-engineering, rate limiting, data restrictions and privacy are available for configuration in separate modules. CUE Autopilot also comes with a set of predefined prompts to give you a head-start when new services become available.

Inspiration for applying generative AI through CUE Autopilot

CUE Autopilot makes integrating AI in all areas of the newsroom possible through a single technology foundation. The above illustration outlines some of the possible services CUE Autopilot can contribute to the CUE workflow.

Starting with story discovery, AI is able to sort through external sources to identify emerging trends and relevant stories, presenting them as an priotitized list based on relevance.

In the research and planning stage, AI can be set up to assist editors by suggesting investigative steps and identifying necessary resources, including potential interview sources and visual ideas to support the storytelling.

When creating content, AI can provide writing assistance, content suggestions, text style enhancements, and recommendations to improve the quality and consistency.

For optimization and distribution, the potential of AI is in evaluating story drafts to predict audience engagement and suggest actions to improve content. AI can assist in automating search engine optimization, social media sharing, and targeted audience reach.

How it works

Implementing CUE Autopilot in your newsroom

1. Ensure CUE compatibility

CUE Autopilot is available for installations running CUE Aurum or later, in Stibo DX cloud as well as on-premise. The CUE Aurum release includes UI components that interact with the CUE Autopilot service to enable AI automation.

2. Select AI services to integrate

CUE Autopilot comes predefined with a range of AI services, such as ChatGPT and Whisper. However, you decide which services you want to enable through CUE Autopilot. Evaluate your desired list of services with your Customer Success Manager who will facilitate guidance from Stibo DX Professional Services if needed.

3. Configure workflow actions

Prompts are predefined for specific use cases in CUE. You chose whether they are triggered manually in the CUE UI or executed automatically based on events (e.g. upon save). Workflow to approve, reject or modify content state can also be configured.

4. Set up compliance and reports

With CUE Autopilot you remain in control of AI restrictions and usage. All AI actions used in your newsroom are tracked and recorded in order to easily monitor and report AI usage.
